Matt Farrell is the Chief Marketing Officer at USA Swimming. He oversees all aspects of the USA Swimming Business Development Division including revenue generation, sponsor sales & servicing, events, promotions, marketing, public relations, social media, creative services and media properties such as the organization’s web site and magazine.
The organization has experienced an all-time high in membership and partner revenue, with corporate partners including Arena, AT&T, BMW, CeraVe, Marriott, Mutual of Omaha, Myrtha Pools, Omega, Phillips 66 Speedo and TYR.
Farrell worked for the U.S. Olympic Committee for a total of seven years, most recently as the Associate Director of Broadcast Properties. There he worked on managing business development and new media marketing initiatives for the U.S. Olympic Team.
In an Olympic hiatus, Farrell was the Director of Internet Marketing for Warner Bros., in Burbank, Calif., from 1999-2000. He handled the consumer DVD marketing for properties such as The Matrix, Humphrey Bogart, Stanley Kubrick, The Wizard of Oz, Pokemon, Scooby-Doo and more.
He earned a degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas in 1992, and volunteers as a board member for the non-profit organization Adaptive Adventures (www.adaptiveadventures.org) and just finished a term on the board for USA Ultimate (www.usaultimate.org) 2010-12. He is married to Michelle Dusserre, a gymnastics silver medalist at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. They have two daughters – Abigail and Zoe.
